Karthikeya is a soldier and the son of Varuna and Airavata Gods. He is depicted as a young man with blue skin, wearing an armor and carrying various weapons including a bow, arrows, sword and shield. In Hindu Mythology, Garuda (Sanskrit: गरुड) or Eagle (from its literal meaning) was the king of birds and the lord of all creatures having wings. Garuda has two consorts; Devasena, his first wife; and Jatayu (brother to Sita), his second wife. Both wives bore a son named Sammy. His son from Devasena is Garudasevita and from Jatayu, his son is Karitkeya. Garuda has two brothers, Kirik [or Naga] and Sitanaga [or Suparna]. In Hindu culture the Phoenix is regarded as the pet-bird of Lord Vishnu. In Hindu epic Ramayana, when Rama (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) was exiled in forest along with his wife Sita (an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi), Hanuman (the monkey god) took care of them; he brought them food every day. Garuda is the only known bird who took no interest in Rama's exile. Hanuman asked Garuda why he did not show any concern for Rama’s state. Garuda replied that "Rama was a man and Sita a woman, and they have been living together for a long time. What’s the need of having anyone else besides them? I have been taking care of them from day one", and continued to fly through the air while showering flowers over Rama and Sita. In Hindi mythologies, Garuda features as a mythical beast with nine heads, nine wings each with three feathers each, three legs each with five claws each, powerful talons and a snake-like tail. He was also known by the names Garuda-Prabhu (Garuda of Prabhu), Garudeśa (Garuda-eśa, Lord of Garuda), and Urcis (from "Urcis" meaning "one with nine heads"). It is believed that Garuda was strong enough to carry the gods and their mounts to heaven. There has been speculation that he might be based on the Eurasian eagle. Garuda is depicted as a king's hero, carrying off many heroic adventures such as rescuing damsels and slaying demons; he has been depicted as an Asura who appears in the form of a lion. The legend of Garuda-Vahana dates back to the Krita Yuga (the first yuga or eon of Hindu mythology). Then he appeared in the form of a colossal bird and carried Lord Vishnu (an avatar of Supreme God) on his back. He also lifted King Bali to the heavens so that Vishnu could defeat him and grant Bali a place in heavens as well as liberating his subjects from their torment. Garuda is usually depicted as a bird with large wings and talons. He is represented with four, eight, or ten hands and two legs. Garuda’s vahana (vehicle) is the eagle. cfa1e77820
